Patients Medical Expense Reconciliation Workshop       Closed

Instructor:  David Stewart

Take the mystery out of understanding your medical and insurance bills.  If you have ever struggled with knowing what you should be paying and what your insurance company should be paying this class is for you. If you have more than one medical insurance carrier, Medicare, group medical coverage, etc., this class will help you determine whether or not you owe the full bill or if the provider neglected to bill a secondary insurance carrier.  It will also aid in year end tax deductions – mileage expense, food and motel when out of town care is necessary.

Learn to reconcile medical expenses using an Excel spreadsheet.  We will be using normal medical billing, explanation of benefits from insurance companies, credit and payments on account to come down to a balance due on the account.  The class is intended to aid you in understanding your account and to know whether or not the bills and statement of account is correct.  You will build your own personal medical expense spreadsheet for use in the future.  The primary focus will be on dates of service, costs, payments, credits and debits of the care provider.  Students must have a basic understanding of how to use a computer.

This will also be a great class for those employed in the field of accounts receivable to assist in understanding problems the patients may be facing in paying their bills.
