Disability Definition
Section 504 defines a person with a disability as a person:
1) with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major
life activities,
2) who has a record of the disability, OR
3) who is regarded as having the disability.
In order to receive services in any given semester, the student must inform the ACCESS Center well in advance of the term's beginning so that an interpreter or other services may be set up. This process can take up to eight weeks, particularly if Vocational Rehabilitation is involved. Please be sure to make an appointment with the Director of Disability Services as soon as possible. If a student does not request services in a timely manner, they may not be available when the student needs them.
