The Family Education Right to Privacy Act (FERPA), which guides both K-12 and postsecondary education, considers all student information beyond directory and enrollment information to be private. Parents, siblings, and spouses of students may not access student information without the written consent of the student. The student may obtain a release of information form in the ACCESS Center.
Documentation of a student's disability is kept only in the DSS Office. It is not accessible to anyone outside that office. The student decides who else on campus needs to know about his disability.
