Library instruction is available for one-on-one, small groups, or classes. The library staff can tailor presentations to faculty or student requests.
Library instruction is an important part of academic life at the UM--Helena. The explosive growth of information will continue in the 21st century. Students who have the skills to find, sift through, and evaluate information are more successful in their classes and will be more successful at life-long learning after graduation.
Instructors are encouraged to arrange orientation and research sessions for their classes. While we are happy to provide introductory tours, we feel library instruction is most successful when tied to specific assignments and projects. This allows us to prepare lessons appropriate to students' needs in the discipline.
Sessions can be scheduled in the classroom or in the library. Advance notice is strongly encouraged. To arrange a tour or instructional session, please submit a Request for Library Instuction or contact the library.
