The UM-Helena Metals Technology Program is a combination of the Machine Tool and Welding Programs.
In the Machine Tool program students have the choice of receiving a one year Machine Tool Certificate of Completion, a CNC Programming Option, and the two-year Associate of Applied Science Metals Technology degree.
The Welding Program offers students the choice of a one year certificate in Welding Technology or a two year Associate of Applied Science degree in Metals Technology. The second year of the AAS degree in Metals Technology focuses on learning machine tool skills.
Both the Machine Tool and Welding Programs are well-known across Montana and surrounding regions because of their many business partners throughout the area. The industry consistently looks to UM-Helena for qualified machinists and welders based on the schools reputation for providing an educated workforce.
Job opportunities in these two fields are endless at this time and UM-Helena’s partnerships with business and recruiters provide students with the opportunity to make a connection with their future employers.
