Willard Patrick is a master custom knife maker. This beginning course in the fundamentals of custom knife building will have students creating a custom knife with a high carbon tool steel blade and a handle made from their choice of hardwoods. The result will be up to two finished, useable knives which students have created from scratch. A major emphasis is placed upon the necessity for shop safety. Enrollment is limited to 10. Instructor: Willard PatrickThis course will introduce the student to the techniques and methods used in general residential home repair. Everyday repairs that will be covered in the course include; replacement of light fixtures or outlets, replacement of faucets and other light plumbing problems, sheetrock repair, repairing trim, and installing door knobs or locking hardware. The course will also contain a section of proper tool usage and safety.
Students will want to wear older clothing - long sleeves and pants with closed shoes. Also bring protective eyewear (goggles or glasses) and leather work gloves.
Instructor: Jim West.Learn how to repair and connect metal around your farm, yard, or business - whether for practical application or for artistic use. You will learn the essentials of safety, rod identification, electrical theory, forklift operation, oxy-acetylene cutting, and plasma cutting. Use various shop machinery in a controlled environment in order to gain confidence in your skills.
Offered again in the winter, once our Airport Campus construction is complete.This course will instruct students on the proper techniques of removing rusted sections of automobile sheet metal panels and fabricating and installing new panels. Students will need safety glasses, welding gloves, long sleeve shirts and long pants for protection from sparks and hot metal.
