Adding/Dropping Courses and Withdrawal Information


Spring 2012 Semester


Adding Courses

Students may add courses through the first 5 days of the semester using MY UMH. After the 5th day, all adds require an instructor’s signature on a drop/add form, and there is a $10 processing fee. Students are not allowed to add classes after the 15th day of instruction.

November 14, 2011 – January 23, 2012

Add courses through MY UMH

January 24 – February 6

A Drop/Add Form is required to add courses – Instructor Approval Required, and there is a $10 processing fee

After February 6

Dropping Courses

Students may drop courses through the first 15 days of the semester using MY UMH and receive a

refund. Please note if a student is dropping all courses it is considered a complete withdrawal and

the student will need to follow the withdrawal procedure. After the 15th day of instruction no refund will be given for dropped courses; however, students may drop until the last 15 days of the semester.  Students will need to complete a drop/add form, and there is a $10 processing fee. A grade of “W” will be given for drops made after the 15th day, and it will not affect the GPA.

Complete Withdrawals

Students may drop all of their classes by completing the withdrawal process. Students will not be able to do a complete withdrawal online. A student who would like to withdraw will need to visit the ACCESS Center or call 444-2766. An advisor will assist with the formal withdrawal process.  The dates for refunds are below. The $30 registration fee and $30 application fee are non-refundable.

July 2

Last day to drop a course and receive a refund.  Complete Withdrawals are eligible for a partial refund. The amount of refund is determined by the number of days classes have been in session.

July 3 – July 25

Courses may be dropped through a Drop/Add Form. A $10 processing fee will apply. Complete withdrawals (dropping all courses) will need to see the ACCESS Center.

July 26 – August 2

Courses cannot be dropped

Complete Withdrawals

Students will not be able to completely withdraw (drop their only/last class) online and will need to come to the ACCESS Center or call 444-2766. A counselor will assist the student with the formal withdrawal process.

Refunds for Complete withdrawals are based on the number of days classes have been in session. All withdrawals completed before the start of the semester will receive a 100% refund of tuition and fees; however the $30 registration fee will not be refunded. The dates for complete withdrawals are listed below.

All financial aid recipients who withdraw will be subject to the Title IV return of funds policy and may owe money back to the school and/or Department of Education. Financial Aid recipients will also be immediately suspended from Financial Aid, see the Financial Aid Office for further information.
